Breeches Review: The Kit by Dada Sport

Updated: Sep 7, 2023

Dada Sport is an equestrian clothing brand founded in 2012. The company is based in France and manufactures in Europe. They seek to create modern and elegant riding attire with a technical focus. Dada Sport was also one of the first companies to offer airbag compatible show coats. Their breeches are offered in a few styles, including regular and high waist, with either self or grip patches. The Kit model is a signature breech featuring high waisted styling and grip knee patches.

Dada Sport Kit Breeches

Overall Rating: A-

Price Range: $373 MSRP

Sizing: 32-42 (Dada size guide)

Technical Design: A

The high waist styling of the Kit breeches offers comfort and flexibility on a level that is surprising for a high waist breech. The breech offers a wide range of motion and freedom of movement. The Italian microfiber fabric is water repellent and highly breathable. It has a high level of stretch and shaping, and is also completely wrinkle-free. On 90-degree days, the Kit kept our rider feeling fresh and cool, even in a dark colored breech. The fabric is incredibly smooth and feels great to wear for hours at a time, as it does not get saggy or hold moisture as you go about daily barn activities.

The grip knee patches offer excellent stability without creating too much friction or stickiness from the grip material. There are no seams on the inside of the leg for additional comfort. The external seams on the outside of the leg are subtle, and on the lower leg they shift to the front and back of the breech for decreased friction under tall boots.

Sizing and Fit: B+

The high waist of the Kit closes with two hook staples, an inside button and a zipper. The ankle yoke is long and stretchy, which makes it easy to pull the breeches on. The main consideration with Dada Sport breeches, as well as their entire clothing line, is that their sizing runs very small. The largest size offering in the Kit breeches is 42, which fits more like a size 10 or 12 in US pant size. If you are larger than a size 12 in the waist, hips, or bust, this clothing line is not recommended. Additionally, if you have a longer midsection, the high waist may not be a good choice given the proportions of the breech, which may feel a bit snug and create a bunching effect in between the legs.

Durability: A-

After over 18 months of continual use, the Kit breech is holding up remarkably well. The fabric has maintained its stretch characteristics and has been resistant to fading and strains. It is easy to care for and cleans easily in the washing machine with cold water.

The grip on the knee patches is slightly less grippy over time. The edges of the some of the grip is just slightly starting to wear, but this seems to be pretty standard for grip breeches after continual use for over a year and a half.

Styling: A+

Dada Sport is ahead of the curve with its modern design and fashionable, elegant styling. The Kit is no exception here, with its recognizable decorative braids on the top of the two front pockets and signature double gold button closure. The high waist of the breech almost makes the belt loops unnecessary, but we appreciate that they are wide enough to fit a variety of belts. The Dada logo is embroidered on the back center belt loop and the back of the breech has wide stitching below the waist similar to a pair of jeans. The color choices are sophisticated and coordinate well with neutral tones, with Kit available in in beige, mocha, navy blue, black, dark green and white. This is a breech that is completely unique in style and looks highly fashionable, but more importantly, allows for a comfortable ride.
